Hair Care Tips For Winter Season

Chilly Winter is here guys! It's the time of year when we all enjoy hot chocolate and warm soups with a cozy blanket. However, the winter season is not a great time for our skin and hair. During this winter season, our skin and hair get dry, dull, and itchy because of less humidity in the weather. Cold air contains less water than summer which leads to uncomfortable itching, fizzy, and super dryness. At this time of the year, our hair needs some special treatment to stay healthy,  soft, and shiny. So, here are some essential ‘hair care tips for winter season’ which you should follow throughout this wintertime.

Hair Care Tips For Winter Season

First and foremost, I am going to say one of the most common hair care tips for the winter season which you've probably heard of your entire life! And again here’s the reminder - “Stop Frequently Washing Your Hair”.

You’ve already noticed your hair gets dry in this cold weather, right? So, if you are going to wash your hair with shampoos and conditioners almost every day, you can easily imagine how the dry hair and less oily scalp would react with those heavy chemical content. To keep the perfect balance we can wash our hair 2 or 3 times a week. And always try to use gentle hydrating, moisturizing conditioner for your hair. I would also recommend using a Protein Hair Mask at least once a week to strengthen hair. You can make a homemade protein mask for hair with natural ingredients from your kitchen shelves.

Get Rid Of Dandruff - this dry season causes more dandruff into our scalp which leads to hair fall, slow hair growth, and breakage. Your hair can get severely damaged by excessive dandruff. To get rid of dandruff you can use a shampoo that contains salicylic acid or selenium sulfide. However, I am a big fan of home remedies, so as a part of hair care tips for winter I would suggest using Aloe Vera gel into your scalp at least twice a week. You can simply take raw aloe vera leaves, peel the skin off, wash into the water, and directly massage the gel into the scalp.

Hot Oil Massage- I highly recommend hot oil massage in the winter season since I have been doing this for years. Hot oil massage is good for blood circulation in the scalp, nourishes the hair, and kills dandruff. You can pick any natural oil- coconut oil, olive oil, or sesame seed oil. Take a sufficient amount of oil into a bowl and warm up for a minute. Do not use too much hot oil on your scalp. Slowly massage warm oil all over the scalp, after ⅔ hours wash your hair with gentle shampoo and conditioner.

Don’t Use Hot Water To Wash Your Hair -  Yeah, it’s also a commonly heard suggestion. From my childhood every winter my mother warned me about washing my hair with hot water. I am pretty sure you’ve also heard this so many times as well. Yet, we tend to forget this ‘common but vital’ advice. Hot water takes away the moisture and oil from the scalp. So, our hair becomes rough and dry. To avoid this damage we should wash our hair with cold or lukewarm water. Also, frequent use of hairdryer heat can cause similar damage to our hair. Try to avoid the heat of a hairdryer and keep it at medium-to-low temperature.

Take A Healthy Diet -  Eating healthy every day and every season is essential for good health. To get extra nutrients, nourishment, and hair growth in the winter season you should add some nuts and seeds like flax seeds, chia seeds, or pumpkin seeds into your diet. Foods containing omega-3 fatty acids are good for your hair growth too.

Those are all for today. I will be posting more beauty tips and secrets on my blog. Till then, Stay Beautiful!
